Small is beautiful but big is better

From small acorns, as they say, grow giant oak trees. That's our - or should I say, my - plan. At present, Gambolio.com is a tiny company. Its team numbers just one person. Me. Alexander Kearns. I am responsible for everything: from the design, development and marketing... to feeding the company cats.

There is of course only so much one person can do. That is why we are always on the look out for great people. In particular, we would love to hear from business savvy entrepreneurs with a track record of raising VC money, and ideally - but by no means essentially - with experience in the gaming space.

For such a person, there is waiting a senior role and a generous chunk of equity. So if you want to work with one of the UK's leading AJAX application developers on an incredibly exciting project, then please send your CV and details of relevant experience to Alex Kearns (alex.kearns@webalon.com).

Alex Kearns bio

Alex is a bleeding-edge web developer specialising in creating beautiful, responsive rich internet applications using open technologies like AJAX, javascript, CSS and XHTML. One leading tech VC described Alex as the best AJAX developer in his portfolio of companies.

Alex honed his development skills at award-winning digital agency Airlock where he worked on exciting projects for blue-chips like the BBC, Shockwaves, BMW and Heineken. Later, he joined innovative mobile-to-web start-up Mobyko where he masterminded the development of cutting edge AJAX applications aimed at helping people manage their mobile phone media.

But Alex was not always a geek. Indeed, he has spent most of his career in journalism, working up from being a lowly trainee journalist to editing leading technology and business publications. He is also a bit of dab hand at interface design.

Forever a dreamer, Alex finally took the plunge into the start-up world in March 2009, when he started work on Gambolio.com. At the same time, he launched a web development and design agency - Webalon - to help him pay the bills.
